Building on more than 20 years of impact, BMO is expanding Equity Through Education (ETE) into a program that brings together more than $4 million (CAD) in education-focused investments. The expanded program supports nonprofit organizations that help students access postsecondary education, complete their studies and prepare for future careers. By helping create pathways to education and future opportunity, ETE demonstrates BMO’s Purpose to boldly grow the good in business and life.

Equity Through Education is BMO's long-standing education-focused community investment program. The refreshed program brings together legacy ETE organizations and Community Giving’s education-focused organizations across the United States, Canada and the United Kingdom, creating a broader platform to help students navigate critical milestones on their journey from education to employment.

The refreshed program reflects the understanding that student success often requires more than access to education alone. Students may also need financial support, mentoring, advising, career preparation and other resources that help them persist through challenges and achieve their goals.

“Student success requires more than access to education alone. Through this next chapter of Equity Through Education, we're supporting organizations that help students navigate critical milestones, complete their studies and prepare for future careers. Their expertise and commitment are what bring this work to life in communities every day.” – Helen Seibel, Head of Employee & Community Giving, BMO

The program is delivered through nonprofit and educational organizations that bring deep expertise, trusted community relationships and a strong understanding of local needs.

In the United States, participating organizations include Thrive Scholars, Hope Chicago, and the Jackie Robinson Foundation. In Canada, participating organizations include Indspire, Loran and Children’s Aid Foundation of Canada. The program also supports organizations advancing educational opportunity in the United Kingdom including Imperial College London and The Brokerage.

By supporting organizations that work directly with students, Equity Through Education helps create pathways to educational attainment, workforce participation and long-term economic opportunity.

The refreshed program will also create new opportunities to highlight student success stories, organizational impact and community outcomes throughout the year, making Equity Through Education a year-round platform for demonstrating how education-focused investments help strengthen communities.
