Raised in Kinshasa, in Democratic Republic of Congo, Benedicte Nzolantima says BMO’s Equity Through Education Program adds up to a lot more than the financial aid it implies. Rather, the Masters student in Metals and Energy Finance at Imperial College London, says it’s an avenue to professional development and, ultimately, to giving back to the community. Once she’s earned her Master’s, Benedicte plans to work in the industry for a time before taking those skills back with her to Congo. “As a woman in the mining industry, especially a Congolese one, right now, I feel like it's good timing, because there's not a lot of representation in the mining industry in Congo,” she said. “But I'm also aware that, as a woman, there are clearly some challenges.”

On September 23rd, BMO’s Equity-Through-Education program celebrated 16 years of supporting scholarships, education, and inclusion by donating institutional equity trading commissions to charitable organizations.
