Glorious Dongwe, a student in Metals and Energy Finance at Imperial College London and a scholar through BMO’s Equity Through Education program, is driven by her passion and motivation to succeed. Born in Tanzania, Glorious took an interest in active mining operations. Now, with the support from the BMO scholarship, she is able to dedicate herself to her studies in metals and energy.
“Back in my country, specifically, girls have always been worried about taking STEM subjects because they think they are only for men,” says Dongwe. “I’m looking at the greater goal: There are people who are behind me who want to enter into this field of study. If I don’t give it my best, then they won’t be able to make it, as well. So, motivation is greater than the worry.”
On September 20, 2022 BMO’s Equity Through Education program will celebrate 18 years of supporting scholarships, education, and inclusion by donating institutional equity trading commissions to charitable organizations.
