I am looking forward to welcoming leading corporates and investors at BMOCM’s 31st Global Metals & Mining conference this weekend. Every year it gives me great pride to be a part of this event, a leading barometer of industry sentiment that focuses on clients in a sector we have been banking for over a century.
Driven by investor interest and awareness, important themes throughout this year’s conference will include the energy transition, climate change and decarbonization, including the critical role that Metals & Mining companies will play. Global political risk will also be a topic of much discussion.
In addition, supply and demand will be an especially interesting topic following a year of record prices and emerging cost escalation that impacted industry margins for many metals. Will that change as we exit from pandemic restrictions? Will China re-emerge as the key driver of demand following the property sector concerns of 2021? And what will the impacts be on metals markets as central banks tighten monetary policy to curb soaring inflation while preserving economic recovery from the pandemic.
Our conference is an event that key industry leaders attend to discuss the way forward for the global Metals & Mining industry. After a virtual event in 2021, we are pleased to be hosting our clients in-person again this year.
