Andrew Pappas
Managing Director, Team Leader and Head of ABL Metals Group

Andrew is a Managing Director / Team Leader and Head of Asset Based Lending (ABL) Metals within the ABL Group of BMO Commercial Bank since 2011. Currently, Andrew oversees the expansion of three verticals within ABL - Metals, Retail and Healthcare. The 23 person ABL Special Industries team, which is focused nationwide, includes ~ 105 portfolio names and ~ $8.5 billion in ABL commitments (~ $6 billion in Metals). The team includes business development officers, portfolio managers, underwriters, and analysts, and through our industry focus within each vertical, we provide value to our customers. The team works with other parts of the bank, including BMO Commercial Bank, BMO Capital Markets, Treasury and Payment Solutions and Trade Finance, BMO Metals Desk, F/X, Interest Rate Hedging, Corporate Advisory and Other Groups to provide a One Bank solution to its customers. Capital provided by ABL Metals is used for growth, restructurings, financing leveraged buyouts and management buyouts, and refinancings.
Prior to BMO, Andrew spent 5 years with MFC Capital Funding as a Managing Director/Principal where, as a team leader, he was responsible for sourcing, negotiating, documenting, closing and managing senior debt investments primarily for private equity deals. Prior to MFC, Andrew spent 14 years with Bank of America Business Capital (and predecessor companies, including Fleet Capital) in various business development roles.
On the Metals vertical, Andrew and his Metals team are focused on providing Senior Credit Facilities (working capital lines and term loans), ranging from $20 million - $1 billion in size, to metal producers/mills, metal service centers, raw material companies, scrap and recyclers, pipe ad tube companies, precious metals and metal trading companies. Metals include steel (i.e. hot rolled and cold rolled; pipe and tube; plate, long products like rebar and wire mesh/rod), aluminum, copper, zinc, ferrous and non-ferrous scrap, ferroalloys, minor metals and critical minerals.
Through the ABL Metals Team efforts, BMO Commercial Bank was nominated and won the following awards from Fastmarkets / American Metals Market (AMM) and S&P Global Platts – Global Metals Awards for many years when these awards were identified and presented:
Fastmarkets / AMM nominated BMO Commercial Bank as a Finalist for the “Financial Services Provider of the Year” award for every year since 2016; BMO Commercial Bank was awarded the “Financial Services Provider of Year” award for the years 2022, 2017 and 2016.
S&P Global Platts – Global Metals Awards nominated BMO as a Finalist for the “Financial Metal Service Provider of the Year” award for every year since 2016; BMO Commercial Bank was awarded the “Financial Metal Service Provider of the Year award for the years 2020 and 2018.
Andrew received a B.A. in Accounting from Loyola University of Chicago and an MBA in Finance from New York University.
