David Descoteaux joined BMO Capital Markets as Head of U.S. M&A for Capital Markets and Commercial Banking in June 2026.

He was previously at UBS where he co‑led the M&A franchise across North and South America for nine years. Prior to UBS, David spent 14 years at Lazard where he focused primarily on technology, media and communications and built a strong track record advising public companies on complex, high‑profile transactions.

David has advised on over $400 billion of transactions for a wide range of clients, with experience spanning a diverse range of industries and geographies, with a particular focus on technology, media, communications and industrials.

David has a Bachelor of Arts with honors in Mathematics and Economics from Colby College and a Master of Business Administration with honors from the University of Chicago, Booth School of Business.

He previously served on the Colby College Board of Visitors and as an investment officer for non-profit organization the Terra Foundation.
