François Trahan is a Managing Director and Chief Investment Strategist at BMO Capital Markets, a role he assumed in 2026. With over 25 years of experience on Wall Street, François has built a distinguished career at some of the most respected institutions, including UBS Securities, Cornerstone Macro, ISI, and Bear Stearns. He is also a co-founder and former President of The Macro Institute, a boutique firm dedicated to macro investment training.
Renowned for his insights in macroeconomics, François collaborated with leading minds such as Ed Hyman and gained recognition for his prescient advice during pivotal market moments, including the pre-subprime crisis housing warnings. His exceptional track record has earned him a place in the Institutional Investor All-America Research Team Hall of Fame.
