Joe Donat serves as Chief Financial Officer of BMO Capital Markets. He oversees financial strategy, performance management, balance sheet optimization, and executive decision support for the Capital Markets franchise globally, supporting growth and long-term value creation. He is a member of the Capital Markets Executive Leadership Committee.

Joe has more than 20 years of experience in financial services and has held senior leadership roles across Finance, Treasury, and Capital Management. Throughout his career, he has advised executive leadership teams on strategic decision-making, capital deployment, balance sheet management, and financial performance.

Prior to BMO, Joe held leadership positions at the Federal Reserve, overseeing the supervision of large financial institutions and leading a risk specialist team focused on capital, liquidity, and market risks.

Outside of work, Joe serves on the board of directors of his local City Year chapter, reflecting his commitment to expanding educational opportunities and supporting youth development.

Joe holds an MBA from the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and is a CFA charterholder.
