Joel is a senior analyst in BMO Capital Markets Equity Research, covering the chemicals, fertilizer and agriculture equipment sectors. Joel joined BMO in 2006, and has been a publishing analyst since 2008 with differentiated views on the global crop input and ag vertical, as well as lithium. Joel has been recognized by Extel (formerly Institutional Investor) in its rankings in the US chemicals and mining sectors, and different Canadian sectors, for a number of years, and has won multiple StarMine awards, as well as first-place rankings in the Brendan Wood International Survey. In 2024 and 2025, Joel received top-three rankings in Extel surveys, and was also ranked as a TopGun analyst in Agriculture in the Brendan Wood International survey.

Joel’s earlier experience includes more than five years as a design engineer at Nortel Networks. Joel holds a B.Sc. (electrical engineering) from Queen’s University and an MBA from York University, and is also a CFA charterholder. He is a professional engineer licensed by Professional Engineers Ontario.
