Laurence Mutkin has extensive knowledge of the UK and EU sovereign bonds and derivatives, acquired over more than 30 years of market experience, 25 of them as a strategist. He understands a wide range of market perspectives, having worked on the sell-side; at a fund manager; and at an issuer.

During this period, Laurence has written influential papers and articles in the financial press, on issues ranging from swap spreads to the deflation of the late 1890s.

Laurence joined BMO from the UK Debt Management Office, where he was head of Strategic Analysis and co-head of research. He has previously held leadership positions in rates strategy at firms including Threadneedle Asset Management, Morgan Stanley, and BNP Paribas.
