U.S.: 10-week term from the beginning of June until mid-August

What students are eligible for the Internship Program?

The summer program is for 3rd year undergrads (students in their penultimate year) or 1st year MBA students.

We also recruit a limited number of 2nd year students for summer internships each year.

When does the recruiting process begin?

Check your school’s career centre website for a list of upcoming BMO campus events and our internship job postings and follow the timelines guideline. Generally, we recruit for internships one year in advance of the start date.

The interview process consists of a first-round interview, followed by final rounds, if selected to advance. Both rounds will consist of behavioral and technical questions.

What is the training program for the internship?

Interns will go through one week of training prior to joining their teams. Our Professional Development team provides this training and resources so that interns are well-prepared prior to the beginning of the program.

What training is provided for full-time opportunities?

Full-time Analysts/Associates are supported by our Professional Development team through ongoing training and learning in their respective business group. Additional on-the-job experiences and mentoring supports growth opportunities.

How many interns are in the incoming summer class?

BMO Capital Markets hires a class of approximately 100 summer analysts per year across the U.S. and Canada.

How do I know which group I will be placed in for the summer internship?

Students receive a generalist offer for all Capital Markets summer internship programs. For Investment and Corporate Banking, students will go through a placement process before starting.

How do you suggest I prepare for the campus recruiting process?

  • Do your research on our company and check your school’s career centre
  • Attend our on-campus events and expand your BMO network
  • Connect with school alumni across the firm
  • Read financial news sources and follow the markets
  • Visit BMO Capital Markets Website - capitalmarkets.bmo.com
